Addressing Chipset Vendor Status
As many of you have probably seen in the market newswires - various cellular chipset vendors such as NXP, TI and Freescale have recently announced that they are either discontinuing their cellular chipset divisions, spinning them out, or merging them with other companies.
Motorola has actively assured the existence of its relevant product lines for the coming years and none of the M2M modules’ lifespans are affected as a result.
Relevant Products in Focus:
G24 family - Freescale has re-affirmed it's commitment for all Motorola key products for the upcoming 6 years.
G24-L - TI confirmed that either it or a buyer of their cellular BB division will continue to support current product lines (i.e. LoCosto and eCosto).
All other Motorola wireless module product lines do not use chipsets in the headlines.
